De Intel Core i7-12700H is een high-end mobiele laptop processor gebaseerd op de Alder Lake architectuur. Hij werd begin 2022 aangekondigd en biedt 6 prestatiekernen (P-cores, Golden Cove-architectuur) en 8 efficiencykernen (E-cores, Gracemont-architectuur). De P-cores ondersteunen Hyper-Threading, wat het aantal ondersteunde threads op 20 brengt in combinatie met de E-cores. De klokfrequentie varieert van 2,3 tot 4,7 GHz op het prestatiecluster en van 1,7 tot 3,5 GHz op het efficiëntiecluster. De prestaties van de E-cores zullen naar verwachting vergelijkbaar zijn met die van de oudere Skylake-kernen (vergelijk met de Core i7-6920HQ). Alle kernen kunnen maximaal 24 MB L3-cache gebruiken. In vergelijking met de 12900H is de 12700H lager geklokt en biedt alleen vPro "Essentials".
Prestaties
De gemiddelde 12700H in onze database wint een zeer belangrijke strijd door iets sneller te zijn dan de AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX in multithreaded prestaties en, misschien nog belangrijker, door de multithreaded benchmark resultaten van de duurdere Core i9-12900H bijna te evenaren, waardoor hij een uitstekende prijs-kwaliteitverhouding heeft.
Kenmerken
Geïntegreerde geheugencontroller ondersteunt diverse geheugentypes tot DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5-5200 en LPDDR4x-4267. De Thread Director (in hardware) kan het besturingssysteem helpen beslissen welke thread moet worden gebruikt op de efficiënte of krachtige kernen om de beste prestaties te krijgen. Voor AI-taken beschikt de processor ook over GNA 3.0 en DL Boost (via AVX2). Quick Sync versie 8 is hetzelfde als de Rocket Lake CPU's en ondersteunt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1, JPEG, VP8, VP9, HEVC en AV1 decodering in hardware. De CPU ondersteunt alleen PCIe 4.0 (x8 voor een GPU en twee x4 voor SSD's).
De geïntegreerde grafische kaart is gebaseerd op de Xe-architectuur en biedt 96 UE's (uitvoeringseenheden) die draaien op maximaal 1,4 GHz.
De processor is berekend op 45 W basisvermogen (115 W PL2), maar de meeste laptops zullen een PL1 van ongeveer 60 W gebruiken. De SoC wordt vervaardigd in een 10nm-proces bij Intel, dat bekend staat als Intel 7.
